A Little About Quincy, Massachusetts

Quincy, Massachusetts is a city rich in history. It is home to both the second and sixth Presidents of the United States, John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams. It is also home to John Hancock, and is the birthplace of both Howard Johnson's and Dunkin Donuts. In fact Howard Johnson himself lived in the Wollaston section of Quincy, and the first Dunkin Donuts is still in operation on Southern Artery just outside Quincy Center.
Quincy is located just south of Boston, and in fact, borders Boston's Dorchester section. Quincy is very popular with commuters because of the ease of getting into Boston. With four T Stations with Red Line Service, as well as, a Commuter Rail Stop and easy highway access from throughout the City. Quincy has 27 miles of shoreline making for a water lovers paradise. Swimming, fishing and boating are common in Quincy. Wollaston Beach is the largest beach in quincy at 3.5 miles in length. On the opposite side of the beach, there are Clam Shops, Tony's Clam Shop, The Clam Box, Matilda's, and Hot Rod Harry's Roast Beef. These are great places to eat on a warm spring or summer night. Fresh seafood, burgers, hot dogs, roast beef, sausages. All eateries have outdoor seating overlooking the beach.
Quincy is also a family oriented city with many baseball, football, and soccer fields throughout the city. Basketball courts and tennis courts are available as well.
Quincy is well known for it's Quarrying and Shipbuilding industries. The first commercial Railroad in the United States was started in West Quincy and used to carry granite from the Quarries to Charlestown during the construction of the Bunker Hill Monument.
Quincy has been home to many celebrities including; Actresses Lee Remick and Ruth Gordon, John Adams, John Quincy Adams and John Hancock, and Amelia Earhart actually was an owner of the old air strip known as Dennison Field. Dennison Field was one of the first air strips in the world. It started out as a private strip, then was taken over by the military during the war, and has since long closed.
Quincy's neighborhoods are ideal for people of all ages. Primarily residential areas with both single and multi unit buildings and residential condos. The downtown areas and a few office parks are where most of the commercial properties are located.
