Quincy Real Estate Market Statistics

If you are waiting for Real Estate prices to bottom out before buying a home, you missed the bottom. Both the Number of Sales and Selling Prices have been going up, meaning the bottom has passed. Good news for Sellers, not so good for Buyers.

Interest rates are still historically low, and the $8,000 Tax Credit for First Time Buyers still make purchasing a home a good investment.

How The Capital Gains Exclusion Works.

I have been asked to write about the Federal Capital Gains Tax Exclusion and how it works with Real Estate. Many people are confused as to the current tax laws. This is informational only and not meant to take the place of a Professional Accountant.

The old law was a one time exclusion, up to $125,000 only. You had to be over 55 years of age to use this exclusion, and it could only be used once in a lifetime. Anyone under the age of 55, had to reinvest the proceeds within 2 years to avoid paying a capital gains tax.

This all changed in ...<< MORE >>

Want To Stop All The Credit Offers Coming In The Mail?

There is a new web site where you can sign up to stop the credit agencies from giving out your information. Similar to the Do Not Call List, this will prevent credit companies from sending you pre qualifications for credit cards, home equity lines, etc.

When an individual signs up, the credit agencies can not release their information for a five year period, if you sign up via the web site. There is also a form that can be printed out and mailed in, which would add you to the permanent list, meaning your information can not be given out ever again. ...<< MORE >>

I think it will affect the Mortgage industry and I am sure there are changes coming such as looking closely at their lending habits.
